Burando Downs Garlic, located on the Darling Downs at Clifton, is a boutique garlic farm known for its high-quality, all-natural garlic. All of our garlic is naturally grown without the use of chemicals or pesticides, and we hand tend each and every bulb at all stages of growing.

Owners Leon and Lois plant, grow and hand-pick their garlic for sale at local markets and for online sale. They also value-add in their kitchen producing a range of garlic-based products using their locally grown garlic.

Leon hails from a farming background in Lockyer Valley, fulfilled his garlic-growing dream once he acquired his own land. He was instrumental in trialing the Glenlarge garlic variety with the DPI during his time in Lockyer Valley.

Lois is the qualified Food Safety Supervisor and oversees all the production in the Burando Kitchen.

Together they started with three bulbs back in 2013, Burando Downs has since expanded to include the Italian Pink variety. Currently, the small-scale commercial production yields approximately 5 tonnes annually and continues to grow.

    Our garlic is naturally grown without the use of chemicals or pesticides. We grow a number garlic cultivars including: Australian Purple, Italian Pink Garlic and the Elephant Garlic varieties.

  • Growing Garlic

    The garlic is suited for growing in our warmer region and is acclimated to shorter warmer Winters and warm to hot Springs with a shorter growth cycle. The cold frosty nights and sun drenched days of the Darling Downs create amazing flavoursome aromatic bulbs. Perfect in our Garlic Infused Olive Oil!

  • Aged Garlic

    Aged garlic is derived from our regular garlic, but the process of aging enhances its nutritional composition and therapeutic properties. We age garlic to produce both Smoked Garlic and Black Garlic, both with no additives or preservatives. You'll want to try these!

Hand-picked.

At harvest time, we gently lift the bulbs from the soil by hand, loosening the soil around the bulb to ensure that our garlic bulbs are not damaged or
bruised. The garlic is then bunched and left hanging to dry. We hand tend each and every bulb at all stages of growing.

Burando Kitchen crafts an array of garlic-based products all made using our 100% locally grown garlic. Supplying a selection of homestyle preserves, pickles and salts some of which are cherished family recipes, while others feature a modern twist. A great addition to your pantry!
